Spirit Balls…
Displaying a glass Spirit Ball, (aka Witch’s Ball) is a tradition that dates back to 18th century England. People would hang blown glass balls in windows to ward off bad energy and evil spirits. The threads or glass stringers inside each ball trapped the spirits and would keep the evil from entering the home. Our hand blown glass Spirit Balls are all one of a kind, made at the Robbins Ranch in Stanley, NM. We create these balls in 4.25″ and 6″ diameter. You can select from one of our solid transparent colors or one of the many colorful Robbins Ranch color mixes.
A unique feature of our Spirit Ball is that it can also be used as a scent atomizer. We create these orbs with a small second inner bubble underneath the loop, that can hold essential oils. With an eye dropper, place a few drops of oil into this glass pocket and hang in a sunny window. As the oil warms up it will emit a light fragrance.

Wave Balls….
Someone asked if we could twist the color chips and get them to move a little. Next thing we knew, we were making twists on everything including our balls! This little twist effect really adds some visual interest and movement to our bright color mixes. With a tweezer we pinch the surface of the ball, and turn the color into itself. The twists create a little spiral and give each piece an interesting wave that resembles the sky in “Starry Night” by Van Gogh. Our Wave Balls are great to hang up in the yard, in a window, or you can gather a few together in a bowl for decoration. They can also be used as pond floats since we blow the glass very thick to withstand the elements.
For an additional accessory, you can add copper and beads to make these orbs into Spinner Balls. We attach a 3″ copper panel to each ball with a copper jump ring, and coordinate a matching glass bead strand to hang it up. First you choose the color ball you want, decide if you want either wave ball or spirit ball, then select a coordinating bead strand. We attach the beads onto the copper and you have a wonderful kinetic spinning sculpture.
