Description
The birds just love our brightly colored hand blown glass hummingbird feeders. Watch them from your window as they buzz around and drink from our one of a kind works of art. We make our blown glass hummingbird feeders thick, with a stout hook on the top, designed to withstand the elements.
Our blown glass hummingbird feeder works on a vacuum principle. Invert and fill glass bulb with cool nectar completely to the top. It’s important to not leave any air inside upon the initial fill up. If you top it off, you are creating a vacuum and the liquid will stay in the feeder for the birds to consume.
As for the capacity, they hold approximately 16 oz of fluid but they are all hand blown glass. Keep in mind the size can vary slightly from one feeder to the next. Its always best to measure the capacity by filling up with water first. Then make a little extra nectar and store in the refrigerator for quick refilling.
To make the nectar, combine 1 part white sugar and 4 parts water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil for 2 minutes, then cool the nectar in the refrigerator before filling the blown glass feeder. DON’T use red food coloring as this can be harmful to the hummers. The tip is red and the birds will find the feeder just fine without it.
We make so many different colors to choose from, there are always new and exciting designs to choose from. Be sure to look at some of our color options on the stripes and mixed colors pages of our website.
